The Competitive Advantage: CTE in Salem-Keizer
In Salem-Keizer, students throughout their K-12 experience have a number of opportunities to engage in clubs, activities and academic programs that support them on their path for success in school and where life will bring them after they graduate. Data has proven that when students hold a strong sense of belonging, they experience greater outcomes and success in their academic programs. This is one of the reasons Salem-Keizer Public Schools has invested and focused on expanding Career and Technical Education opportunities for students throughout the district.
February is Career and Technical Education month and throughout the month, we will be sharing stories of the impact of Career and Technical Education in the lives of our students, highlighting some of the more than 50 programs available to students and highlighting the competitive advantage Salem-Keizer students have upon graduating from our schools with the participation and completion of CTE programming.
CTE provides students with the knowledge and hands-on training necessary to succeed in their future career. With more than 10,000 students enrolled in Salem-Keizer Public School's CTE programs, on average, students completing their programming have experienced a nearly 99% graduation rate.
